The Sampler Archive Project is a nationwide effort to locate, photograph, and document all known American samplers and make them available to the public in an easily searchable online database known as The Sampler Archive. The Sampler Archive Project is collaborating with museums, historical societies, historic homes, libraries, dealers, auction houses, and private collectors all across the country.

Funding for the design and development of the Sampler Archive database was provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Local and national efforts to identify and document American samplers and related girlhood embroideries is managed by teams of volunteers, many focused on private and public collections in their immediate geographic areas.
